We design landscapes to restore and enhance our South Louisiana ecosystem. Our projects merge ecological and functional design principles to create beautiful landscapes that manage water, enrich soil, require minimal maintenance, and provide valuable ecosystem services. We work with natural plant communities that would have likely existed on the site historically or are suited to its current conditions.
Landscape Install
We manage our projects from conceptual design through construction and early establishment. Our experience in creating natural landscapes allows us to plan efficiently, identify potential challenges early, and address them holistically. We plant South Louisiana local ecotype plants. Local plant genetics are well-adapted to our unique climate and soils and have a more authentic relationship with local insects. The long-term environmental health and success of your landscape is very important to us!
Garden Maintenance
Our garden maintenance service caters to those living in suburban and urban settings. We understand the importance of keeping your native garden visually pleasing and presentable to the public! We carefully manage plant growth to maintain a tidy and welcoming appearance and highlight seasonal beauty while preserving the habitat value of your native landscape.
Big Land Management
We specialize in restoring and managing grassland ecosystems such as pine savannas and prairies. Our services range from phased reforestation and habitat enhancement to invasive species eradication and long-term management like prescribed burns. We work closely with landowners to achieve lasting ecological improvements that align with your long-term goals and vision for your property.
Traditional Use Consultations
Deep connections between land and people are a fundamental part of our South Louisiana heritage. We offer personalized reports on traditional and medicinal uses of native plants including crafting tinctures and herbal remedies from your property. These reports reveal the offerings of plants and are intended to allow you to embrace the reciprocity of your Louisiana landscape.
Community Outreach
We are passionate about connecting with our community! Through lectures, workshops, and children’s educational activities, we educate the public about the natural plant communities of Louisiana and their valuable functions.
